It looked like the setting was telling me a story, of how there once was a man who came here every day, sat on the same spot and watched the whole world walk by.. Until one day…He was gone.

Soon after this, the gardener came by with a few other people and they were discussing whether to chop down this very tree or not… Mary says if they decide to do so…she’ll tie herself to it…( reminds me of a “You’ll have to go through me to get to it/him/her” situation).
